"Feelin better than I ever felt before today"
It sufficeth me to say: I'm staying in Guayama and my new comp is super cool and a breath of fresh air He is both a super good and spiritual missionary, while also being relatable and fun to be around. And hes like 6'4 so I'm basically hanging out with a less-country version of a-a-ron (shout outs)
So excited for this transfer. The ward really is special and now that I'm not with someone set on avoiding member meals (for whatever reason), we can actually build relationships with the members and unite our faith together
Luis, the joven I mentioned a few weeks ago, got baptized this sunday!! He is bien chevere and he doesn't know it yet but he'll be a great missionary. And his mom was there and bawled her eyes out the whole time, we're gonna get her next, promise. She's so sweet, everytime we come over she says "Luis! Los mormónis!" Something about being called "mi amor" by a middle age latina chain smoking outside her house with her 5th husband just makes me feel so warm inside She'll be a great member.
Seriously super happy with my current set up. And as a result, I gotta focus up. My spanish doing as good as it could be. The past few weeks, I've felt a strong prompting to fast from emails for a month. I put way more time into these than I should. The first transfer, they were kinda theraputic and a good creative outlet, but at this point, I really need to be entirely focused on serving the Lord.
This transitions me perfectly into a spiritual thought. This is a quote by C. S. Lewis, the legend himself. It'a how he imagines the Lord talking to us.
“I don’t want your time or your money or your work as much as I just want You. In fact, I want you to hand over to me your whole natural self. And I will give you a new self instead. In fact, I will give you Myself: my will shall become your will.”
I don't want to give up emails. But I know the Lord blesses us when we give up stuff to better follow Him. And if it's His will, my spanish and faith will be improved by this exercise of faith.
When David was offered a free burnt offering to give to the Lord, he said "Neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing," (2 Samuel 24:24).
So, I will see everyone in June! You can still send me emails and I would love to hear from everyone. But I won't be sending out emails in May. I'll have some good stories and be a bit better at spanish when I return, I promise.
Suerte,
